Preparing to send your child(ren) to Kindergarten can be overwhelming for everyone involved! We have provided a list of all Kindergartens in Laramie along with brief descriptions of each so you can find the best fit for you and your child(ren). You will also find some resources for families that choose to homeschool as well as a link to find childcare. Please check the school's website that you are interested in for important deadlines and application requirements. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION:
Kindergarten registration for Albany County School District #1 elementary schools, including rural schools, will be in April each year. Per Wyoming Statute 21-4-302, children must be five (5) years old on or before August 1 to enter kindergarten. Parents who wish to request a waiver to this requirement, for prospective students whose birthdates are between August 2 and September 15, must do so at their neighborhood school during the week of registration (per School Board Policy 4001).
Registration will take place at the incoming student's neighborhood school: Beitel, Centennial, Harmony, Indian Paintbrush, Linford, Rock River, Slade, or Spring Creek. To determine the neighborhood school, based on a family's current address, please copy and paste this link: https://www.acsd1.org/en-US/school-boundary-maps-447942d7. If desired, boundary exception requests are available at the neighborhood school.
During the week of Kindergarten Registration, you will be given a link to a registration form. Please do not use the ACSD#1 Online Registration Form on the District website under Parent Resources. Required documents for registration: a copy of the child's birth certificate and a record of childhood immunizations. Children entering kindergarten are required to have their immunizations up to date prior to the start of school in August. The required immunization form is available from schools or any physician's office.
Registration for the DLI Program (for incoming Kindergarten students applying for first grade DLI in 2024-2025 at Slade Elementary), UW Lab School, Snowy Range Academy, and Laramie Montessori will be through a lottery system. Lottery applications will be available from those schools, and on the ACSD#1 website for the DLI Program. The lottery drawing for DLI and these schools will be in April and parents will be notified soon afterwards.
